...an update on my February Perthshire garden! It's been a long dark Scottish winter. But on cold days like this we are blessed with glorious blue skies and light wispy cloud formations that stretch across the skyline. My long lost friend - sunshine has made its presence felt again as it tracks its course just above the horizon line. The evenings are noticeably longer. It's lovely to see many of the flowers glow each morning and evening as they catch the first and last rays of light.
February is merely as long as is needed to pass the time until March.

Designing With Perennials
I'm aware that it's been a long time since I last posted here. As much as I enjoy being out in the garden I really appreciate the rest over the winter months. Since doing the Designing with Perennials course with Dr Noel Kingsbury I've spent lots of time drawing plans for my new design.
I based all my course assignments around my own garden. It's very exciting when you've got a new project to focus on. I'm very grateful to Learning with the Experts in giving me the opportunity to take part in the course. It was a very thought provoking and challenging course. I learned so much and if you ever wonder what to buy someone as a gift I'd thoroughly recommend any of the courses the website offers.
As the autumn and early winter nights of 2015 closed in I was quite often seen working in the garden. I used the street lights to illuminate the flower borders!
Decisions were made as to what would need moved to a new home. Then the work started on preparing the plants for the move in late September. I took a huge risk and moved the Magnolia in the autumn. I'm thankful that it looks like it's settled in as new buds are appearing. It certainly has been watered in well!
February Perthshire Garden Photos
Yip ...we've had our fill of rain, again and again, deluge after deluge. Sepa flood alert texts became the norm for awhile as the garden was ravaged by so many storms. Many a morning the first task of the day was to peep out through the blinds to see if the fence was still up. Part of the garden has been under water for months; because most of the plants are not actively growing at the minute they should survive. Plenty of others are thriving and flowering so well at the moment.
